Jason Furia, OTR, CHT

Dr. Jason Furia OTD, CHT, is the owner of ARS Hand and Physical Therapy. Dr. Furia’s professional calling started as a volunteer at various local hospitals where he discovered the profound impact Occupational Therapy can have on one’s life. Upon graduating from Kean University in 1997, he immediately began his career working with hand and upper extremity patients. A two-year mentorship position at the Hand Rehab center of Northern New Jersey afforded Dr. Furia a unique in-depth knowledge of all aspects of hand and upper extremity therapy. He continued to pursue his education and expertise by becoming a certified hand therapist in 2003. In 2007, he opened ARS Hand and physical therapy which was driven by a singular goal…… to provide superior personalized one-on-one care combined with an unparalleled therapeutic relationship. Dr. Furia returned to school and completed his Doctoral education at the EIM institute for Health Professions in 2017. He is an active member of the American Society of Hand Therapists.

When he is not treating patients, Dr. Furia enjoys an array of outdoor activities including: mountain biking, wakeboarding, snowboarding and trail running to name a few. These activities not only serve as a great source of entertainment but provide firsthand knowledge of the injuries Dr. Furia treats every day in his practice.

Matthew Dudek, DPT

Matt Dudek is a physical therapist at ARS Hand and Physical Therapy. He graduated from the Seton Hall University dual-degree program with a B.S. in Biology, Minor in Music Performance and Doctorate of Physical Therapy. As a physical therapist, Matt is dedicated to providing the finest individualized care for his patients guided by the most up-to-date research.

Matt grew up in Union, NJ. He has a twin brother, an older brother, and an older sister. He currently lives nearby with his wonderful girlfriend. Matt has a numerous and diverse range of interests. He enjoys reading, writing, cooking, baking, fitness, music, and politics. Matt participates in a monthly book club with a group of friends that has been going strong for over a year now. In high school, Matt taught himself to play guitar with some instruction from his father. He then took formal lessons throughout college with a focus on jazz performance and music theory.

Amanda McGrath, DPT

Amanda, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, also holds an undergraduate degree in nutrition from the University of Vermont. While there, she gained valuable experience throughout her internships at St. Mark’s Hospital and Garden Terrace Rehab in Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Throughout college, she was a member of the basketball and soccer teams and was a member of the physical therapy club.

Amanda is committed to collaborating with her patients utilizing the most current and empirically proven approaches to treatment, with a focus that promotes rapid recovery and long-term health. She received extensive training in techniques including the Mulligan technique, orthopaedic rehabilitation protocols, and the McKenzie method. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

In her leisure time, Amanda enjoys snowboarding, biking and paddle-boarding.

Ronald Salamat, PT Aide

Ronald Salamat is a Pt aide and part time student currently attending Kean University pursing a degree with a bachelor’s in Biology. Ron’s plans after undergrad is to get to graduate school and pursue his DPT to become a licensed Physical Therapist. Patient care and physical rehab have always interested Ron which led him to pursue a career in the medical field. Ron likes to keep active by working out at the gym, playing basketball, hiking time to time and playing with his dogs. He also enjoys traveling to new places and trying all types of different food.

Gaby, PT Aide

As a physical and occupational therapist aide Gaby, fluent in English and Spanish, serves as a support system to our therapists. Gaby graduated from Rutgers University- New Brunswick in May 2019 with a B.S in Exercise Science and a minor in Spanish. She intends to pursue a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and provide culturally competent care to all. Gaby is a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. and dedicates much of her time to her sorority in various capacities. She enjoys traveling, reading, trying new foods, and spending time with friends.

Stacy, Front Desk

Stacy works at the front desk. She is also a part-time student pursuing a career in radiology. Currently, Stacy lives in Roselle Park with her parents and younger sister. On her time away from work and her studies, Stacy enjoys watching standup comedy, going to the gym, drinking wine and eating good food, especially when these activities include spending plenty of quality time with her friends and family. Stacy is a people person, she likes to laugh, talk, and help wherever she can. She is grateful to be working at ARS which offers an excellent work/life balance and a great team of employees and clientele.

Denise Spearman, Office Manager Assistant

Denise Spearman, Assistant Office Manager, lives in Elizabeth, NJ with her 2 kids. Denise worked in the medical field for over 20 years. Denise spent ten years working for an allergy doctor prior to attending school to become a nursing assistant. She worked in the field of nursing for 5 years. Denise furthered her education and completed a medical coding and billing program. Denise has been working as a medical coder and biller for 5 years. Denise began working at ARS in early 2019.

Maria Hilas, Office Manager

Maria Hilas, Office Manager, lives in Short Hills, NJ with her husband and three children. The oldest is in college at Rutgers University. The younger two are in high school and elementary. She worked in the field of physical therapy for over twenty years. She started working for ARS in 2010 as an insurance and billing specialist and now serves as the office manager.
